We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior/Midweight Python Developer to join our client’s VFX studio. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining tools, scripts, and plugins that support their visual effects pipeline. You will collaborate closely with artists, supervisors, and other developers to ensure smooth integration and functionality of our tools within their production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Python scripts, tools, and plugins for the visual effects pipeline.
- Write efficient, clean, and well-documented code that adheres to industry best practices.
- Collaborate with artists, supervisors, and other developers to understand their needs and provide technical solutions.
- Assist in supporting and covering existing tools, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support.
- Utilize your expertise in Python scripting to enhance and optimize workflows and processes.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of C++ scripting for potential integration tasks.
- Leverage Linux Bash scripting skills to automate various tasks and improve efficiency.
- Utilize GIT version control to manage code repositories and collaborate effectively with the team.
- Work with Digital Content Creation (DCC) tools and platforms to integrate custom tools and scripts.
- Contribute to cross-platform compatibility and portability of tools by leveraging your knowledge of software packaging.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation to facilitate tool usage and support future development.
- Preferably, work with Shotgrid to integrate and customize the project management and tracking system.
- Prior experience with Open Pype is advantageous and will be utilized to streamline workflows.
- Proficiency in Rez is highly favorable, enabling efficient package management within the studio environment.
Dont worry if you don’t have every single one of the skills above – this is a junior role. Python and a few other languages, plus a willingness to work onsite, come into work every day, work hard and learn will be well-regarded.
